In June 2023, Florida’s labor force grew by 2.4 percent (+257,000) over the year, 0.6 percentage point faster than the national labor force growth rate of 1.8 percent over the same time period. The industries gaining the most jobs over the year were trade, transportation, and utilities increasing by 6,500 jobs education and health services increasing by 4,600 jobs and professional and business services increasing by 4,500 jobs. The Fort Lauderdale area labor force also grew by 27,411 over the year, an increase of 2.6 percent. The Fort Lauderdale area added 18,800 new private sector jobs over the year in June 2023, a 2.4 percent increase. Florida has seen more business formations than any other state since 2020, with 326,115 new business formations in 2023 alone. Floridians remain confident in available job opportunities as the state sees continued labor force growth and record business formations.
